My Never Fail Mexican Pizza Recipe

My Never Fail Mexican Pizza Recipe
I'm sure there are many versions out there, but this is my recipe for a never fail Mexican Pizza. First concocted about 25 years ago when I was young, carefree, and in need of something, ahem, gourmet, to impress the ladies with. Since that time, I've honed it down to where it's reached taste bud perfection. This is a great snack to serve during the Super Bowl, Cinco de Mayo, or any time of the year.

Ingredients

  • Large pizza crust
  • 1 pound of hamburger
  • Taco seasoning mix
  • Mild salsa
  • Sliced jalapenos
  • Sliced black olives
  • One package of taco blend cheese
  • Tortilla strips
  • Cilantro
  • Sour Cream
  • Guacamole
  • Taco sauce

The Magic

First, brown the hamburger with your favorite taco seasoning mix as per the directions, then thoroughly drain and set aside. Spread the mild salsa over the pizza crust as you would tomato sauce, using as much or as little as you like. You can also substitute medium or hot salsa, depending on how much heat you want. Next, spread the hamburger evenly over the pizza followed by the black olives, jalapenos, and the tortilla strips. Then, cover with cheese and bake using the directions given with the pizza crust.
Allow to cool for about five minutes after removing the pizza from the oven. Drizzle with the taco sauce and sprinkle with cilantro. I recommend that the sour cream and guacamole be served on the side so it can be added to each slice to suit personal tastes.
I also highly recommend that it be served with your favorite Mexican beer for no other reason than "why not?" Enjoy!
