The Best Super Bowl Appetizers: Something for Everyone

The Best Super Bowl Appetizers: Something for Everyone
Super Bowl parties include more than simply watching the game, half time show and commercials. Without a spread of scrumptious, game worthy appetizers, this yearly gathering would be lacking. Here are a few crowd pleasing appetizers guaranteed to satisfy your big game craving.

Pizza Dip

Rather than traditional delivery, this hot, bubbly pizza dip offers guests the same mouth watering flavor in bite sized portions. Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 8 ounces pizza sauce
  • Choice of toppings including pepperoni, sausage, veggies, etc.
  • Toasted baguettes for dipping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cream cheese and Italian seasoning and spread on the bottom of an 8 x 8 inch glass baking dish. Combine mozzarella and parmesan cheese and sprinkle half over the cream cheese mixture. Add toppings if desired. Pour pizza sauce over the cheese and top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until bubbly.

Bacon Wrapped Cocktail Wieners

The name says it all! There is nothing better than a cocktail wiener wrapped in a thick slab of bacon. Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of bacon
  • 1 pound of cocktail wieners
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
Begin by preheating oven to 325 degrees. Wrap each cocktail wiener with a strip of uncooked bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place each wiener on a large baking sheet and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake for 40 minutes or until sugar is bubbly.

Fresh Avocado Dip

For the more health conscious, this appetizer offers full flavor with the benefit of offering 18 essential amino acids. Ingredients:

  • 2 avocados
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 finely chopped jalapeno
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • Pita chips for dipping
Cut the avocados length wise. Separating the two halves, remove the seed and scrape out the insides into a medium sized bowl. Combine all ingredients and gently blend until smooth.

Football Finger Sandwiches

You really can't go wrong with this one. After stacking the bread, use a knife or cookie cutter to create the football shape. Be creative and use a variety of meats, cheeses, and condiments to satisfy all guests. Secure the sandwiches with a toothpick and serve.

Fruit Kabobs

Serving fruit on a wooden skewer adds visual appeal and allows guests to easily add this festive treat to their plates. Simply alternate the fruit onto 24, 6 inch skewers. Use your favorite tangy dip to accentuate the fruit. Ingredients:

  • 6-8 cups of assorted fruit (depending on what is in season), cut into 1 inch chunks
