Chocolate Almond Bacon Strips - Sweet and Salty Bacon

Chocolate Almond Bacon Strips - Sweet and Salty Bacon
Ingredients:
Bacon
Chocolate chips
Almond slivers

It's getting so that there are more and more snacks that feature a sweet and salty combination; they're all delicious. But there are some very unusual sweet and salty snacks - made at home - that can't be found at the grocery store. For example, have you ever melted chocolate chips in the microwave and dipped regular potato chips in it? If you dip the chip, and then sprinkle chopped nuts on it, it really isa delicious, sweet and salty treat - but not the norm. Try the chocolate potato chips sometime; you'll fall in love. Want to try another scrumptious treat with a sweet and salty flavor? Get out the bacon! Chocolate almond bacon strips are sweet and salty at the same time and they're very easy to make.
Prepare bacon like you always do, on the griddle, in a skillet, or even broiled in the oven. Drain the grease from the bacon and pat it with a paper towel to make sure there is no grease. You will have a hard time getting the chocolate to stick if there is too much grease left on the strips. Allow the bacon to cool to room temperature before putting on the chocolate.
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave by zapping them for about 15 seconds, stirring, and cooking for 10 seconds more. Continue melting, and stirring in that manner, until the chocolate is smooth and all of the chips are melted. Although there are other types of chocolate that would taste great on bacon - such as chocolate frosting - it's almost impossible to apply it without breaking the bacon.
Lay the bacon out on wax paper and spoon the chocolate over each piece. By spooning it on you'll ensure that you don't break the bacon strips. If the chocolate is dripping right off of the bacon, sprinkle powdered sugar on the meat, and then spoon the chocolate over it. Allow excess chocolate to run of of the bacon and then sprinkle almond slivers on it.
There are lots of fabulous, unusual ways to fix bacon, and there are lots of sweet and salty snacks that you can buy or make. But when you combine bacon, chocolate, and almonds together, you create something that you cannot find in a store, a snack that answers your craving for sweet and salty, and a treat that will be your go-to food, day or night.
