Since I'm counting calories these
days, I'm always on the lookout for low calorie treats. One day when I
was standing in line at the grocery store, I spotted a type of chewing
gum I'd never seen before: Extra Dessert Delights sugar free gum. It was
key lime pie flavored, and I love key lime pie. I decided to buy a pack
and give it a try.
Well, I was amazed at how much it really did
taste like key lime pie. I've had key lime pie flavored yogurt before
and it was pretty good, but did not quite taste like a real piece of
pie. This gum does. Since that day, I've tried a variety of other
flavors of Dessert Delights sugar free gum, including orange creamsicle,
mint chocolate chip, strawberry shortcake and apple pie. I did not care
much for the strawberry shortcake flavor and didn't think it tasted
much like real strawberries. The other flavors, though, are incredible.
The orange creamsicle tastes just like an orange creamsicle - you know,
those ice cream bars with vanilla ice cream inside and orange on the
outside. The mint chocolate chip tastes just like mint chocolate chip
ice cream. And the apple pie flavor tastes just like apple pie. I never
would have imagined it was possible to make gum that really tastes like
real apple pie, but this gum does. The different flavors smell
wonderful, too.
One stick of Extra Dessert Delights gum has only
five calories and is, of course, sugar free. The only thing I don't
like so much about this gum is that it seems to lose its flavor pretty
quickly. Still, it makes a good treat when I want something that tastes
like dessert but without all the extra calories of a typical dessert.
