Tips for a Good Blow Out

Tips for a Good Blow Out
Don't you love those salon visit blow outs? Hair stylists know how to coax hair into lots of different trendy styles and what's their go-to tool? The blow dryer! In case you haven't noticed, it is difficult to copy that perfect style. Surprisingly, it may not be your lack of hair skills that makes the difference; it's probably your blow dryer. With the right tools and techniques, you can get a good blow out every time you blow dry your hair. Get started now with these tips for a good blow out.

Selecting the Right Tool

A good, sexy blow out all starts with the right tool. Toss that one speed, overheated blow dryer out in the trash bin. The best machines on the market today have a tourmaline-boosted ceramic system that leaves hair smooth, not frizzy. Cheap machines have no real heat control. What you should look for is a blow dryer with an infrared ionic heating element. The second element you should look for is a "cold shot" button. Once the blow out is complete, apply a shot of cold air to your tresses. It will seal in your style and give it a glossy finish.

Curb the Hair Products

Obviously you need clean wet hair but should you use a leave in conditioner and other styling products? The short answer is no! Use only one product and limit how much you use. A nickel to quarter-sized amount of styling gel or heat activated gel is all you need for medium to long hair. For short hairstyles, a dime-sized amount is perfect. Scrunch the product into your hair, starting at the tips.

Limit Brush Time

You've seen your stylist brush and dry so shouldn't you? Nope! If your blow dryer has one (and it should), attach the air flow control nozzle to the tip of the machine. Lift the hair at the roots with your hands and begin drying there. Dry the roots first. Remove the nozzle and finish the blow out using your brush to smooth and style. Always finish your blow dry session with a blast of cold air.
Sounds simple, doesn't it? It is! Get the perfect blow out each time with these easy tips.
