How to Make Easy Cupcake Liner Flowers for a Vase - Create Pretty Paper Blooms in Minutes
Some of the prettiest floral crafts are also the simplest, and they are also the easiest to create. Advanced crafting skills are not required to make impressive paper blooms. No matter your skill level, you can make cupcake liner flowers in gorgeous pastel hues. As the photos shows, the delicate paper blooms are simple yet pretty. They are especially lovely during the long weeks of winter when the air outdoors is crisp and the sun seldom shines. Best of all, kids as well as adults can enjoy making dozens of variations using just four simple crafting supplies.

Necessary Supplies

To make cupcake liner flowers to place in a vase you will need paper liners in a color and design of your choice, plastic buttons for the centers, wire stems and green floral tape. Do not settle for basic liners in solid pastel hues. You can find all sorts of designs online, in craft stores and in kitchen supply stores that sell baking accessories. Buttons with flat backs work the best when making cupcake liner flowers because they do not have shanks. However, you can use the type with a shank. The assembly process is a little different, but it is just as easy.

Procedure for Making Flowers with Flat Button Centers

Begin by pushing a wire stem through the center of the back of a cupcake liner and through the back of a flat plastic button. Carefully bend the wire over to secure the center. Wrap the stem in green floral tape, and make it slightly thicker just below the paper bloom. Even though floral tape does not feel sticky, it seems to magically stick to itself.

Directions for Using Buttons with Shanks

When using buttons with shanks, instead of pushing a wire stem through the center of the back of the paper cupcake liner, push the shank through the inside and out the back. To make the process easier, use a pair of pointed scissors. Slightly pinch the paper, and clip just enough to make insertion easy. Place the stem through the hole in the shank, and twist it around before wrapping it with floral tape.
No matter which method you choose, make several pastel paper flowers for a kitchen table centerpiece, a bathroom display or a coffee table arrangement. If the vase is clear, fill it halfway with light blue flat glass pebbles. They give the impression of water while securely holding the stems in place. Arrange the cupcake liner flowers as desired, and enjoy their pretty colors and appealing designs all year long.
