Beginner's Guacamole Recipe: An Easy, Step-by-Step Guide for Quick, Delicious Homemade Guacamole
If you're really craving guacamole to go with a Mexican dinner or margaritas, or just because, then store-bought stuff will just not do. Making your own is easy and fun. If you are new to making guacamole then finding a "standard" recipe online can be a little overwhelming. There are tens of thousands of recipes on as many websites. At its core, though, guacamole is made from just a few basic ingredients. But one ingredient is absolutely a must, and that's the avocado. Avocados are a healthy, tasty fruit that can typically be found all year round at your local grocers. You want to pick medium-sized avocados that have a little give when you squeeze them, similar to a plum or a peach. Here is the most basic and easy way to make guacamole.
Ingredients:
3 Avocados
Pico de Gallo (fresh tomato salsa)
Garlic salt

This is the easiest way to make guacamole. Many grocery stores are starting to provide chopped vegetables in ready-to-go containers. They have everything from veggies for the grill or veggies sliced for hummus. What you're looking for is Pico de Gallo or fresh tomato salsa (in some places). It contains 4 diced ingredients: tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro. Some places add lime or garlic, some omit jalapenos. Read the container's ingredients to be sure, then grab the right one and three ripe avocados.
Cut the avocados lengthwise and throw the pit away. With a spoon, scoop out every bit of the avocado into a bowl. With a sturdy fork, begin to mash the avocado to desired consistency. Then, add as much or as little pico as you'd like. Season to taste with salt or garlic salt. Stir and serve immediately or cover well and put in the fridge. That's it! That's all there is to it. Now you can begin experimenting on your own: chop your own onions and tomatoes for desired chunkiness or add lime or cayenne pepper for a kick. Some people add sour cream or ranch dressing. It's really up to you. No two recipes are alike, and now you have the basics to get you started creating your own unique guacamole.
