Basic Tips for Beginner Snow Skiers

Basic Tips for Beginner Snow Skiers
Skiing is is a fun outdoor sport for kids, as well as for adults. When first learning how to snow ski the instructor will most likely teach you on a small slope. But like any outdoor recreational activity like bike riding, roller blading or skate boarding, it is important to follow certain procedures to protect oneself from harm and still have fun outdoors. Keep these important tips in mind when snow skiing.
1. When learning how to snow ski one should wear body protective gear to stay warm, to avoid frost bites and to stay safe, in order to avoid serious injury, if you fall or collide with another skier. One should wear a goose down or padded coat, helmet, gloves, goggles, outerwear pants/ski pants, and ski boots.
2. Start off by going down a small slope by practicing how to bend forward, left and right. This will help you maintain a balance and speed when going down hill. When returning up hill use the ski "skins" at the bottom of the skis to prevent slipping.
3. Try skiing down the slope again, but at a faster speed maintaining a steady balance and practice jumping at least once. Return uphill.
4. One last tip is to practice going right and left down hill. Make sure to look in both directions, to prevent collision with other skiers.
Remember, snow skiing is a fun outdoor sport. Not only are you burning energy but relieving stress while having fun.
