Easy Ways to Make Ordinary Gloves Non-Slip-Add Texture for a Much Better Grip

Gloves can be incredibly slippery, especially when trying to lift and carry heavy or awkward items. It is not necessary to buy an expensive pair that you might not use very often. Ordinary material can be made non-slip using a few different methods. Best of all, they will look as good as ever since the areas that cling are limited to the fingers and palms. Try these easy ways to improve gripping abilities while wearing ordinary hand protection, and add texture without spending a small fortune.

Use Puff Paint to Make Basic Gloves Non-Slip

One of the easiest ways to make any fabric non-slip is with a special type of textured craft paint that has multiple uses. As the name implies, puff paint puffs up upon application. It comes in a rainbow of colors, and it will match or coordinate with any hue. Use it to improve the grip of ordinary gloves by adding dots, lines, swirls, flowers or other shapes. After the latex medium dries, it will greatly improve grasping capabilities, and it will not ruin the appearance or the durability of the fabric.

Apply Dots of Latex Caulk to the Palms and Fingers

If appearance does not matter as much as performance, pull out the latex caulk. Ordinary gloves can be turned into the work variety with the addition of water-soluble caulking. Apply lines or dots to the palms and fingers of the fabric, and allow plenty of drying time. They will grip amazingly well.

Use Hot Glue Strips to Create Non-Slip Fabric

If you do not have puff paint or latex caulk on hand, you might have a hot glue gun and glue sticks. Hot glue works exceptionally well to make ordinary gloves non-slip, and it can be accomplished in a matter of minutes. Apply strips or dots of hot glue, and allow them to dry completely before handling or wearing the gloves. The glue will dry far quicker than anything else that you might choose when striving to create an ideal surface for gripping and grasping.

Brush On Latex Rug Backing

Latex rug backing is a phenomenal non-slip surface. It works well for rugs, especially when placed on hard wood floors, and it also works well on ordinary gloves. Buy liquid rug backing, and after reading the label for warnings and other indications, brush it onto the palms. To prevent it from soaking through the fabric to the other side, line the fingers, thumbs and palms with cardboard. Trace your hands on pieces of thin cardboard, and insert the forms before applying the rug backing. They will work remarkably well, and for far less than the cost of rubberized work gloves.
