3 Winter Wedding Themes

3 Winter Wedding Themes
Winter can be a magical season for a wedding. Here are 3 unique themes that you can choose from for your own wedding.
Winter Wonderland Theme
This theme is especially great in areas that don't usually get snow as it creates a magical setting. To create this theme you'll need the following:

  • Invitations need to be white and "cold". Try opting for an invitation that has snowflakes or a nice snowy scene.
  • The dress needs to mimic the overall feel of winter therefore you'll want something with either long sleeves or opt to wear a wrap. If you feel sleeves are too "modest" for you and you want to have a little fun try getting a dress that has lace see-through sleeves.
  • The tables for the reception will work well with a blue and white motif. The blues need to be a lighter shade of blue. Try using a light blue tablecloth with a white sheer tablecloth over it.
  • Place settings can match the tables with blue and white plates. You'll want to have more white than blue to make sure it gives a more Winter theme. The blues in everything is meant to be an accent.
  • For your table centerpiece, if your budget allows, try getting small ice sculptures. They look fantastic and will last through the whole reception. If you can't afford ice sculptures try large vases with clear blue, clear, and white gems. In the center of the vases add large white candles that should be the same height of the vase. You can arrange a nice setting with three of these vases of all different heights per table.

Christmas Theme
For many brides to blend a holiday with their special day is out of the question. Here are some ideas to incorporate the colors of Christmas but not overdoing it:

  • Invitations can be red and green but don't feel like it has to be too "Christmasy". This means opt to have different shades of green and red or try pick an invitation out that has a vintage feel.
  • The dress can be whatever you want it to be for this theme but some ideas would be to incorporate a little red into the piece whether it be shoes, accessories, or even a red lining.
  • The tables should not be cartoony or animated looking. You want an elegant looking table so again just like with the invitations go for the red and green but choose different shades that aren't bright. Try alternating the tables with one table red and the next table green and so on.
  • Place settings can be the opposite color of the table. For the red table have green plates and napkins. The green table have red plates and napkins.
  • For the center piece there are a couple things you can do. One is to go for a natural tone and have a small pine tree with natural made ornaments, such as a bird ornament made out of twigs. This gives the Christmas feel but doesn't over do it. If the tree idea is a little too much Christmas for you you can do a nice big bouquet of red and green flowers. This will tie the main colors together into one big display for each table.

Nature Theme
This theme will showcase how nature is during the winter. A lot of branches and berries but with very little greenery. Here's how to do this theme:

  • The invitations should have a red, brown and black theme. The brown should be twigs and branches while red could be berries that are in the branches. Black for the lettering makes the invitation stand out.
  • For the dress opt for an ivory dress for a more natural feel. Have your husband-to-be try on a dark brown or maybe even a tan tuxedo. This will lighten up the wardrobe and give a more natural tone.
  • The tables can be as minimal as you want. If you have the budget getting natural wood tables would work perfectly for this theme. If that is not an option try doing just an ivory and light brown table cloth.
  • Place settings can be fun for this theme. One idea is to have small and very thin tree stumps to showcase everything. This can mean have wood coasters for the glassware, having a wood plate holder and even wood to hold up the center pieces. Another option could be to go tweed or plaid. These give a more natural tone and also gives off a warmth vibe.
  • Centerpieces can mimic the place settings. One idea is to use large mason jars to hold tea lights. Spread branches with red berries around the mason jars to make for a country feel wedding. Add a couple pine cones into the mix and you are done.
